The Truchas Library began offering services in the 1960's through 1971. The NM State Library at the time also served the copmmunity with the "Red Van Book Mobile services". In 1972 the building which was formerly the Mission School was converted in to what is now the library.
The library offers services throughout the surrounding communities, Ojo Sarco, Cordova, Chimayo, and Penasco. The library provides a Early Literacy Reading program that includes STEM education for 3-5 year olds twice a week.
Julie Trujillo who has been with the library for 18 years is the Director and has her certification with the NM State Library & is a Notary Public.
Virginia Padilla is the Head Librarian, Notary Public, Weaving Instructor & has her certification with the NM State Library. Patricia is our librarian. John Herrera Volunteer tech support. Michael-Mikey is our Substitute Librarian. Margie Martinez- Maintenance. The library became a full public library in 2016 through the NM State Library.
